thats sorta like asking “is a ford a excellent car?”
well, if it has 300,000 miles and is covered in rust, then no.
if its groundbreaking new and not a scratch, its probably a excellent one.
but, as someone who’s worked in a music store for numerous years, i’d say that they’re pretty excellent overall. i’d certainly recommend picking one with a solid top, and make sure that its got a feel thats comfortable for you. ibanez tends to make a lot of guitars with slim neck, which isnt always preferable for acoustic guitars (you dont want the neck to be weak). i seem to remember their “AE” line being pretty excellent for the money.
also, you need to just pick for yourself. anytime anyone tells you what brand of guitar, strings, amps, picks, etc…. thats a really subjective thing. its like me telling you what to eat for lunch. just because i like something doesnt make it “better” than something else, and you might despise what i really like.
pick up a few guitars, see how they feel, listen to them, and pick what feels aptly to you. and dont be worried of making the “incorrect” choice. its normal to pick up something that you like, and to have your tastes exchange over the way of a few years.
